Dear ken,
A few years ago I came up with the concept of igniters, which
are people that can uplift and encourage anyone they come in
contact with. Every week in Phoenix Arizona a group of
professionals gather to network and discuss strategies for both
personal and professional growth.
I call this group "The Igniters". I have written blogs, newsletters and now a
book that focuses on the power of ignition. The concept has reached a state of
acceptance, and initiated a movement. As I travel the world, I've ignited (and
been ignited by) strangers only because I chose to engage and allow myself to be
engaged. What I've learned through recent connections is that we are in many
ways the sum of our connections.
From one person to another and yet another: relationships are grown,
businesses are developed, and families are born. Igniters are consciously aware
of their surroundings, and live in a state of readiness for opportunity. It is
this opportunity that provides a fertile landscape for positive change.
This month I'm proposing something that is different than the usual monthly
writings. I'm requesting from my readers two things. First, I'm asking you to
send me either a story of how someone ignites you, or how you've ignited someone
else. This story could be a one-time event, or a series of events. Secondly, I
ask that you request a story from a friend or forward this newsletter to at
least one other individual. You may choose to forward this newsletter directly.
The bottom-line is
- If you are a HR leader, you have the power to ignite
- If you are looking for a new career, you have the power to ignite
- If you are C level executive, you have the power to ignite
- If you take care of your household daily, you have the power to ignite
- If you are an attorney, you have the power to ignite
- If you are a doctor, you have the power to igntite
- If you are in a sales or service career, you have the power to ignite
- If you are an engineer, you have the power to ignite
Keep in mind, igniters don't procrastinate, they make things
happen. Igniters are doers maximizing every opportunity to
enhance or improve someone else. The choice is yours to fulfill
these 2 requests. Each day, I choose to ignite an individual,
leader or team. Together we can cultivate a spirit of growth,
one person at a time.
